I am a professional Artist and experienced Teacher working in Heritage, Museums and the visual Arts.  I am a skilled communicator with strong organizational skills who enjoys delivering and developing cross curricular programmes for children and young people, alongside creative workshops for adults and community groups.  I am experienced in delivering art workshops in all media from printmaking to painting and drawing.

ARTIST AND PROJECT MANAGER 

July – Dec 2022 ‘The Coastal Creatives’ (Conserve, Create, Change) WORTHING

I secured funding and organised an outdoor exhibition along Worthing Promenade (free and accessible to all) which focused on creating work to encourage conservation and enhance well-being for local communities and visitors along our coast using creativity (Songwriting, illustration and beach plastic art) and by engaging others in positive artistic activities to bring about change and to protect our coast line.  All the activities were inclusive and designed for all ages and abilities.  Funded by Worthing Trust Creative Commissions 2022

 

LEARNING SESSION LEADER: THE ASHMOLEAN MUSEUM OXFORD

24TH Feb 2016 – Dec 2022

Delivering workshops and sessions for school groups ranging from Early Years through to Primary and secondary based on the collections of the Ashmolean Museum.  Preparing for and delivering cross curricular experiences for visiting school groups, organizations and community groups in the form of gallery activities, project days, handling sessions and workshops.  Working with volunteers to deliver sessions for families and Little Ashmoles (ages 3 – 5) in the galleries.

 

ARTIST AND TEACHER, FREELANCE

2011 ONGOING

Developing workshops, talks and unique experiences for a wide-ranging audience within the museum and heritage sector. As a Reportage Artist (the art of visual storytelling) documenting behind the scenes stories of our country’s unique history and heritage through drawing.

THE BODLEIAN LIBRARY ‘Tolkien: Maker of Middle-earth’: Designing, evaluating, budgeting and delivering the Oxfordshire Libraries summer outreach programme in close liaison with the Education Officer to raise awareness and increase visitor numbers to their special Tolkien exhibition.

TOUR GUIDE Writing and creating art and interactive history tours for the Oxford University Museum’s service including the Bodleian library

​

ASHMOLEAN MUSEUM AFTER HOURS EVENTS:  to create, evaluate and deliver a regular monthly programme of themed drop-in art activities for adults and young people, highlighting special exhibitions and the collections.

WHAT’S ON PROGRAMME: ADULT LEARNING using the Ashmolean’s collection as inspiration to design and deliver ART workshops, talks and courses for the general public.

FESTIVALS, CORPORATE EVENTS, LATE NIGHTS AND SPECIAL CELEBRATIONS: Creating and delivering memorable experiences using exhibitions and the collections for the public, patrons, students and families within the galleries. ‘One World Festival’ and ‘Ashmolean Founders Festival’

OXFORD UNIVERSITY COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT Commissioned to create, evaluate and deliver art sessions inspired by museum collections at a local family centre for a group called ‘Saturdads’ to encourage male carers to interact with their children through creative activities.

​

EXHIBITION CELERATING OXFORD’S HISTORY ADULT LEARNING: Tutoring and encouraging a group of mixed ability students from the Ashmolean Museum to create artwork inspired by the collections and local history for an exhibition at the Little Gallery in Broad Canvas Oxford, whose achievements were subsequently celebrated in an article by the Oxford Daily Mail. 

 

CREATIVE DIRECTOR / ARTS AWARD ADVISER: SONG UNITE COMMUNITY INTEREST COMPANY

JUNE 2012 – SEPT 2018

Working in a small team of Creative Practitioners to facilitate and run inclusive, Song writing and Recording, Art and Video Production workshops for and with young people and adults who have Special Educational Needs and Learning Difficulties.  Song Unite has run numerous creative projects with schools, organizations and community groups across Oxfordshire. 

TELEVISION DOCUMENTARY: Collaborating with a small group of professional practitioners, school

staff and parents to write, produce and record a documentary celebrating young people who have

special needs and their creative skills in the Arts for the community channel, Together TV.

ARTS AWARD ADVISER responsible for the planning, delivery, mentoring and the evaluation of student’s Arts Awards along with preparing work for moderation for Trinity College in London.  Providing cross curricular opportunities to achieve a recognized qualification in the Arts.

 

LEARNING AND ACCESS ASSISTANT OXFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL MUSEUM SERVICE

AUG 2008- MARCH 2012 (REDUNDANCY)

Working as part of a small team to deliver a comprehensive programme of heritage workshops to schoolchildren across Oxfordshire.  Planning and delivering family learning activities at The Oxfordshire Museum in Woodstock.
